Impacts beyond the home.

Financial Security and Preservation

Every repair increases home equity and builds generational wealth. Property improvements strengthen household finances. Energy efficiency reduces monthly expenses, freeing resources for other needs. Clear title through heirs’ property resolution enables owners to access credit and pass value to the next generation. More Than Four Walls doesn’t just help families stay housed — it builds long-term economic stability and wealth-building opportunities that strengthen households for decades.

Energy Savings

At an average of $300 per household annually, these repaired homes will save approximately $135,000 per year in utility costs combined. Over a decade, that’s $1.35 million returned directly to residents instead of lost to utility bills. For seniors and fixed-income homeowners, a $25-50 monthly reduction in utilities can mean the difference between stability and crisis. And, energy-efficient homes are more affordable to maintain long-term

Healthcare Cost Avoidance

Research demonstrates that housing instability is linked to anxiety, depression and chronic health conditions. Improved housing quality eliminates mold, lead exposure and structural hazards that trigger respiratory illness and stress-related disease. Stable housing reduces emergency room visits, hospitalizations and preventable health crises. Children in stable homes show better developmental outcomes. Keeping families housed prevents cascading health costs for individuals and healthcare systems.

Displacement Prevention

Every family kept in their home is a displacement prevented, a community stabilized and neighborhood network preserved. When residents stay, social infrastructure stays intact. Elderly community connectors remain in place. Generational legacies continue. Children grow up with stability. Preventing displacement preserves the people who hold neighborhoods together — the ones who know everyone’s story and create belonging that money cannot recreate later.

Economic Multiplier Effect

Every dollar invested in home repairs generates $3 in broader economic activity. Contractors purchase materials locally. Workers spend wages in their communities. Local businesses reinvest earnings. When skilled trades are employed from within the neighborhood, every dollar circulates locally, strengthening small businesses and creating wealth-building pathways. This isn’t just housing repair — it’s strategic community economic development that multiplies impact far beyond the home itself.

Window Install

“A lot of times, the things that will help, you can’t even see them. It’s in infrastructure — cast iron pipe, things behind the wall, insulation, proper windows.”
